16+ Uplifting Bible Verses for Surgery to Read Now!

The scriptures you’re about to read are meant to encourage, uplift, strengthen, and build your faith as you prepare to undergo surgery.

Surgery is usually a straightforward medical operation done by experienced professionals with a high success rate.

In reality, this doesn’t mean that every surgery conducted by an experienced surgeon is straightforward. Even doctors can make mistakes because they are humans and humans make mistakes

But the Lord is with you, and by His guiding hands, He will see you through a successful surgery.

Through Jesus, God gave us victory over death, pain, and every unwelcome health condition. Find rest in Christ, God has you covered as you build your faith with faith scriptures for surgery.

What does the Bible say about surgery?

The Bible has no direct mention of the word “surgery.” However, circumcision and castration are mentioned in Genesis 17:10-11 and Deuteronomy 32:2, and both are considered surgical operations.

What does the Bible say about surgeons?

Matthew 9:12: “On hearing this, Jesus said, “It is not healthy who need a doctor, but the sick.”

Jesus wasn’t condemning doctors or those who seek doctors for help; he was pointing out that sick people need doctors.

Is it a Sin to have surgery?

No, having surgery isn’t wrong; Matthew 9:12 said: “and hearing this, Jesus said, “It is not healthy who need a doctor, but the sick.”

That being said by Jesus, allow these uplifting verses for surgery to bless your heart as you prepare for your medical operation.

A long road lies ahead, but… you will make it through this. Here’s proof:

“I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.” Philippians 4:13.

Moreover, you’re not alone; other saints are battling identical health conditions and are learning to trust God.

Similarly, saints who found themselves in even dire health conditions trusted God, and He helped and healed them.

Likewise, you can trust God and have confidence that you can find mercy and grace to help in times of trouble and need.

For this reason, here are a few encouraging and uplifting scriptures for surgery that can help build your faith and trust in God.

God is with you even as you prepare for surgery.

The following collection of surgery scriptures is organized as follows:

Uplifting Bible Verses for Surgery

Psalm 46:1: God is your refuge

1. Psalm 46:1 (KJV)

“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.”

The good news: riding through this storm while waiting on God will not be easy.

But this verse brings hope; it says God is our refuge and strength.

Like Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego refused to bow to the king’s idol and trusted God for deliverance.

You too can stand in faith and count on God’s deliverance.

Don’t look at your undesirable health condition, but confess life and health over your body daily.

God is your life, and you live by Him, God is your hiding place, and you live in Him.

In times of trouble take heart and remember the three Hebrews boys who waited on God and weren’t disappointed.

I encourage you to write down and remember Psalm 46:1 because it is such a reassuring Bible verse to read before surgery.

Psalm 9:9 – find rest in God

2. Psalm 9:9 (KJV)

“The Lord also will be a refuge for the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble.”

The good news: encountering health issues as a child of God doesn’t mean God has forsaken you.

But it may be that God allowed and is using the situation to push you into your place of greatness.

As such, take courage and remember that this health issue isn’t unto death, but God is using it to push you into divine destiny.

Psalm 9:9 is a good word of spiritual encouragement before surgery that you can embrace even in testing times.

Isaiah 40:29-31- you’re strong in God

3. Isaiah 40:29-31(KJV)

“He giveth power to the faint, and to them that have no might he increaseth strength. Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall:

But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; they shall walk, and not faint.”

The good news:

Do you feel weak?

Getting weaker with every passing day?

Feeling drained and overwhelmed mentally, physically, and spiritually?

Experiencing fear and mental trauma because of the unknown that awaits you?

If your answer is yes to any of those questions, then Isaiah 40:29-31 is speaking to you.

It says that God will give you power when you feel like giving up and strength when you don’t feel like having the energy to do anything.

God has committed Himself toward you to the extent where your strength will surpass that of the young and your restoration is a picture to behold.

But you will need patience because your strength comes from the Lord and as you wait in and on Him; He will strengthen you.

That said, you will need to make up your mind to be fully committed to God.

Are you willing to surrender your life to Him? If yes, your heavenly Father will honor you with strength.

Isaiah 40:29-31 is an ideal Bible verse for surgery recovery; I encourage you to memorize and confess it while recuperating after surgery.

James 1:3-4 – your faith will past the test.

4. James 1:3-4 (KJV)

“Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience.

But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.”

The good news: Patience is a grace you must pursue, without it, you would be fighting a losing battle with your health if you want God to intervene.

According to this verse, there’s a reward for God’s waiting children.

As such, even if your health situation is overwhelming; don’t worry because those who wait for God will not be disappointed.

Moreover, waiting on God means you are taking Him at His word.

James 1:3:4 is the perfect scripture to share with someone having surgery because it reminds us of the reward of waiting in and on God.

Proverbs 18:10 – The Lord is your strong Tower.

5. Proverbs 18:10 (KJV)

“The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous run into it and are safe.”

The good news: A tower speaks of protection, elevation, and strength.

The name of the Lord is a strong tower, and as such, no device of satan, man, or this stubborn condition will destroy you while you’re hiding in God.

Proverb 18:10 is such a beautiful scripture and I will encourage you to keep going.

Don’t give up, don’t be overwhelmed, but confess faith in God; declare His promises over your life daily.

Don’t drawback but look to the hills from where will come your help.

6. Isaiah 40:10 (KJV)

“Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.”

The good news: Your strength is of God, and here Isaiah 41:10 is encouraging you to stand firm and fear not.

It is God who will strengthen you, God who will go before you, God who will go with you, and it is God who will uphold you even after the operation.

7. Philippians 4:6-7 (ESV)

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.

7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

The good news: You must fight tooth and nail to resist anxiety and fear. Anxiety is of the flesh manipulated by the devil.

When you are anxious, you resist the will of God and embrace the will of the flesh manipulated by satan.

For this reason, you must all your heart, mind, body, and soul find rest and peace in Jesus Christ.

Tell yourself that all is well, and direct your energy to prayer, supplication, praises, and thanksgiving to God.

8. 2 Timothy 1:7 (ESV)

“For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.”

The good news: Fight against fear. God didn’t give you a spirit of fear. So, where does fear come from? The devil.

Satan will try to manipulate things around you and even your health to get you to fear, and the Bible says fear has torment.

In other words, when you allow fear to grip your heart you’re limiting God from intervening on your behalf.

For this reason, I encourage you to say no to fear at all costs.

9. 1 John 5:14-15 (ESV)

“And this is the confidence that we have toward him, that if we ask anything according to his will he hears us.

15 And if we know that he hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests that we have asked of him.”

If you feel God isn’t interested in answering your prayers, according to this verse, now you know that such thoughts are an attack from the devil.

God delights in answering the prayers of His saints; every prayer prayed to Him according to His will. He answers.

So, don’t allow the devil to rob you of the precious hope and privilege you have in Christ.

10. 2 Corinthians 4:17 (KJV)

“For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory.”

The good news: It’s hard to believe that God will get glory from what you’re going through.

Yes, God is glorified when He stands on His words and resists all the attacks of satan like Jesus did in Matthew 4.

The pain today will soon pass, but don’t waste your pain, allow God to work in you to bring about an eternal weight of glory.

11. 1 Peter 2:24 (KJV)

“Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.”

The good news: Healing is also possible if you believe. Do you want to be healed?

Believe, and insist that you are healed as this verse about healing says.

12. 2 Corinthians 1:9 (KJV)

“But we had the sentence of death in ourselves, that we should not trust in ourselves, but in God which raiseth the dead.”

The good news: Trust God; He is your heavenly Father who knows how to get you through this rough phase of your life.

Habakkuk 3:19 – you’re will be rewarded with strength and favor.

13. Habakkuk 3:19 (KJV)

“The Lord God is my strength, and he will make my feet like hinds’ feet, and he will make me walk upon mine high places.”

The good news: Is there anyone or anything greater than your heavenly Father? No.

In this verse, we see that our Father is ruler over all—He is sovereign and the Almighty.

So no matter where you are health-wise, your Father will strengthen you, and bless you with stability, mercy, and stamina to do great things.

Habakkuk 3:19 is a great prayer Bible verse for surgery that you can use during prayer.

14. Psalm 23:4 (KJV)

“Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.”

The good news: You can trust God with your life because He will not fail you.

Sure, uncertainties are some of the most frustrating times in our lives.

Not knowing what’s around the corner or what may happen next with your health isn’t necessarily the best position to be in.

But this verse reveals that even in your darkest hour, God will help and see you through the operation.

Psalm 23:4 is one of the most popular Psalms people confess for safe surgery.

Psalm 73:26 – trust God.

15. Psalm 73:26 (KJV)

“My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.”

The good news: The key to getting through this is not putting your confidence in the doctors.

But trusting God to give the doctors wisdom and to guide their hands and tools to perform a successful surgery.

In other words, while you’re on the operation bed lying unconscious (meaning your flesh and heart are helpless) God will direct the surgeons to do a complete and successful surgery.

As such Psalm 73:26 is the ideal Bible verse to read after surgery, on surgery day, and an ideal prayer Bible verse for surgery.

1 Corinthians 10:13 – God will bring you out alive and well.

16. 1 Corinthians 10:13 (KJV)

“No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind.

And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear.

But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.”

The good news: Others have experienced and overcome what you’re going through now.

It’s a good idea to reach out to them, especially those who God helped to overcome various health conditions.

Philippians 4:13 – you can do it.
